** NOTE THAT OUR RULES HAVE CHANGED, MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD AND READ OUR NEW RULES**
Our annual Cake Show Competition will be held on March 10 & 11, 2012, inside the La Jolla Village Square Mall. We are located inside the mall on both levels (Map). Download a copy of our show flyer here. The show will benefit Ronald McDonald House. It is the largest show of its kind in California. If you missed it last year, here is a sample of what happened. The cake show this year will be bigger and better than ever!
There are many categories for professional, non-professional, adults and children. This show is judged by educators of the confectionery arts from outside our area. Prizes are given to the winning entries.
The entries are judged on Saturday morning and are on display through Sunday. During the Show there are demonstrations of many sugar arts, i.e.., various cake decorating styles, candy making, cookie decorating, flowers made from gum paste, sugar eggs, gingerbread art, marzipan, or rolled fondant. The demonstrations are at 11:00 A.M.; 1:00 P.M.; 2:00P.M.; 3:00P.M.; and 4:00P.M.on Saturday and at 12:00 Noon; 1:00 P.M.; 2:00P.M.; on Sunday
On Saturday and Sunday we also have a booth called "Kup Kake Korner" For a small donation a person can either decorate a cupcake or a decorator will make one for them. At this booth we also sell decorated cakes.
We have a raffle table where we sell tickets all weekend. Items that are donated by many different businesses are raffled off on Sunday at 3:00P.M. Wining ticket holders need not be present to win.
The Award Ceremony is held at 3:30P.M. on Sunday. This is where the Best of Show and all other prizes are announced.
Trophies will be presented to the winners in each category. All entrants may pick up their judges sheets to see how they were evaluated. Then they will know where they need to practice their craft for the next time. This show is for sharing and competing. See judges facts for help.
In 2011 we raised $5,000.00 to donate to Ronald McDonald House. We raise funds all year long to help pay the bills of the show.
